At the Monday, August 27, 2018 Chapter meeting, the Ohio Chapter of URISA elected new officers:
- Ryan E. Bowe (Quality Control Team Lead at Woolpert in Dayton, Ohio) as Vice-President.
- John R. Woodard (aka Woody) (GIS/IT Project Developer for The Davey Resource Group (DRG) in Kent, Ohio) as Treasurer.
They will assume their new roles with the Ohio Chapter of URISA on October 1st. On that same day, Haley Zehentbauer (Stark County) will become President and Matthew Shade (Prime 3SG+) will become Past-President while Brittany Converse (City of Columbus) remains Secretary.
The Chapter thanks in advance Mark Yandrick (City of Centerville) for his service and commitment to the Board and Chapter, with his 3-year term and Larisa Kruger (The Ohio State University) for her service as Treasurer, with her 2-year term. Both terms will be expiring on September 30th.
Ryan E. Bowe
Ms. Ryan E. Bowe currently holds the position of Quality Control Team Lead within Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing at Woolpert in Dayton, Ohio. She manages her team of four people and countless projects. Ryan considers herself a metadata specialist and always tries to make metadata enjoyable, if not manageable, through her presentations at state, local, and national conferences. Ms. Bowe began her career as a GIS Intern at the Minnesota DNR before becoming a GIS Specialist with Photo Science, A Quantum Spatial Company. Ryan moved to Dayton in 2016 to work at Woolpert. Outside of work, Ryan considers herself “spatial,” will not give up her GIS license plate, and spends her time with her drone and crocheting globes.
Ryan earned her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology/Sociology from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky and is active in the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing at the National and Regional level as well as URISA International. While she was in Kentucky, she was a founding member and past board member of the Cumberland Chapter of URISA (Kentucky and Tennessee). She is a past Vanguard Cabinet Member of URISA International, earning the Barbara Hirsch Special Service Award. She is a current Eastern Great Lakes board member. Ryan hopes to leverage her connections to Kentucky in order to foster joint events.
John R. Woodard
Mr. John R. Woodard (also known as Woody) currently holds the positions of Adjunct Professor at the Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown, Ohio and GIS/IT Project Developer for The Davey Resource Group (DRG) in Kent, Ohio. Prior to working for DRG, John was the GIS manager/coordinator for Chagrin Valley Engineering (CVE), Ltd., and before CVE, a GIS Specialist/coordinator for The Summit County Public Health Department. He has 16 years of GIS experience.
John holds a Master’s in GIS/Geography from the University of Akron, and a Master of Digital Science concentrated in Enterprise Architecture (EA) from Kent State University. He has been awarded the professional certifications of GISP and EA. John has been very active in the field of GIS most notably providing workshops and presentations at the Ohio GIS Conference since 2005. He is an avid beekeeper, scuba diver and the proud father of a beautiful 9-month-old daughter.
